WEEKEND
Decided to take a road trip to Montreal with Elaine...
Picked her up from her work and blasted right for the hwy410E
The snow kept me within 120km.hr.. but there were times where I zoomed to 150ish...
It was quite the intense drive...
Arrived alive at Monteral... It was quite beautiful as expected...
We walked around and window shopped... Old Montreal and Fine French Cuisine...
MONDAY
Something stupid happened..
The Furnance Ignition part blew.. So I was stuck in the house with no heat
and stressed out... I had no idea what was going on..
So I had to call someone to come and totally take out the burnt part inside teh furnance and replace it...
Now I'm very greatful and will never take home-heating system for granted!

Yup yup..
ABOVE _pic_link_ is a recent photo shoot of me and Elaine...
It was my first time setting up my dad's massive lighting equipments...
I set up a front box light and a ground reflector,
and then two spot light aiming at a white drop-down background…
I used the Kodak Pro Process C-41 B&W film... cheap and good...
Taking apertures and fixing the lighting was a headache...
My dad had taught me bits and pieces though out my days on projects with him...
But still so much to learn...
I always had a love for photography.. but never took time out to dap into photography...
I think being with Elaine will be a great motivation for me in photography
Photography is all about having a vision...
That is... having the eye for angles and vision of what your shot is going to be like...
I had traveled with my dad all over the world to do location shoot... back in my younger days...
I would find shots for him in various places... those were the days = )
I found out that my dad was leaving for Vancouver for a Photographic Society gathering...
...it's basically a bunch of photographers that get together and talk of photography...
So he told me he's bringing his big cameras, so I was going to have to do my photoshoot the day B4 he leaves...
So I had to try out my skills last minute without a first run on 'trial and error' ...
For my first time.. I was prety pleased...
My specialty would be more of a outdoor type of photography…
Give me a 35mm Nikon and a telephoto lens and I’m good to go…
But since Toronto is too fricken cold to go out for a photoshoot…
I’ll have to wait till summer, or when I take Elaine to California with me = P

What is it about woman walking in barely nothing with thin silky designer wear?
Is it really fashion design when all the people really want to see are the gorgeous model beauties?
Is it sorta like soft porn? hmmmmmm..... I'll let you be the judge of that...
Would it be any different if it were hunky guys in G-strings? ouch... too much of a mental picture in the morning...
home alone...
It's also that time of the year where my parents take their travelling trips...
Our family never stay much of our 365 days in Toronto anyways...
I was suppose to go with them to Vancouver to do a light 2 week vacationing...
Then I head off to China and my parents would go off to Japan and HK...
Plans have changed as usual... So I'm staying in Toronto alone...
It's all good... I'm planning a little getaway myself... hee hee...
Tons of design work to carry upon up my sholder... so gotta start!

I got restless and decided to 3D render a pair of sunglasses...
Elaine's been buying new sunglasses...
and I also looked at the photograph of the La Jolla Beach at 1:00pm PT...
And I thought.... DANG!! maybe I should design a pair of shades....
Neways.. I AM still busy conceptualizing and designing for 2 major clients...
BUT HEY! I need a break once in a while...
It's been kinda relaxing and sweet to have my aunt here...
My mom would go thru hours designing for 4~6 hours straight without much conversation...
with my auntie here, it's been really sweet...
me and my mom have this thing where we are totally absorb and don't like to be disturb...
But my having my auntie with us had been a real nice treat..
since she loves what we do ...
so she would sit and listen along to my oldies jazz and rad the newspaper..
and around tea time, she'll go and bake some snacks for us to eat...
Time flies alot faster and surprising more productive for us = )
She would tell stories of my mom... despite my mom's protest...
An example would be how my mom use to sing semi-professional... though she doesn't talk much about it...
But since my auntie came over... she dug up some unbelievable stories of how she participated on stage and contested against some of now and before the biggest stars in HK ...
My aunt told me my mom apparently was about to get signed and do professional recordings.. but my dad rejected the idea... ahem ahem...
She also got her internship scholarship for industrial design to Germany at around the same time... and so of course she went to Germany instead...
She won numerous national award and money prizes from her singing competition that have contributed in funding for her work term in Germany...
Tons of laughters and stories...
times really flies...

Signs that shows the economy is picking up...
When suddenly there's a flood of design projects that just pile in...
Companies from states calls in and started discuss on new projects that have to be launched in a matter of 4 months...
in the Electronic Product Design industry... that's too flamming fast...
In this month of November, it should of be the kick back time for designers...
(that's why I choose this time to do my portfolio)
so when buyers are furiously pushing to merchandize new pconsumer roducts...
that means the buying exconomy is picking up...
Suddenly there's a whole line of CD players and brand new branding designs to be done...
plus my mom is leaving for Asia.. which leaves me with the bulk of the work...
bad and good... my mom and I are stressed beyond believe...
I suddenly find myself putting my portfolio on hold and deal with the new projects...
'aiya' life as a industrial designer...
when work comes.. it comes in waves...
****I also decided to post the daily desktop view of what I'm doing on computer...
since I wil be on the computer designing for a while on up coming projects..

I really needed a break from my portfolio
so I decided to jump on some computer for fun.. it’s been a while neways…
I love star wars...
so...I started computer designing a rendering of Naboo Royal N-1 Starfighters
I loved the design on the starfighter...
the rendering was done by a program called Rhinoceros 2.0
I was going to use Maya.. but I’ve been familiarizing myself with this 3D rendering program…
Neways, I went to the portfolio day @ OCAD yesterday
OCAD Ontario College of Art & Design
There were thousands of ppl there...
I waited since 11am till 4:30pm almost..
just to get to see 3 schools... Pratt - NY, College for Creative Studies - Detroit, and Emily Carr in Vancouver...
I was kinda interesting, because I didn’t know what to expect...
I never attended a portfolio session...
Waited in-line for 2 hours just to be critique by school officials...
I've heard enough criticisms ahead of me…
It was like ‘American Idol’, there were so much criticism and shot downs by those school officials…
When it came to me, it was all praises… no criticism whatsoever…
U may think its all good and I’m happy…
But I actually felt really odd about it… when I get no criticism…
So it was kinda weird.. all 3 schools says my stuff are ‘absolutely excellent’…
Especially with the Emily Carr critique person, was acting exceptionally 'gay'…
Neways, after 4:30pm,
I walked out of OCAD feeling kinda weird…
Because although I felt like I kicked everybody’s ass there…
I also wanted some pointers in which I could improve on…
So I think… decided upon my mom to bring on another level on me…
Get her to whip y @$$ even more…
Yeah I’m asking for it… but whatever…

WEEKEDN UPDATE
Saturday
Covocation…
I escaped to California during the summer for 3~4 months of total bliss... only to have to come back for my covocation...
That was one of the major reason why I came back, other than working on my portfolio..
My Auntie and Grandma came solely for this purpose... just to see me walk on stage and shake hands with a bunch of old profs who looked like they’re dressed for an Halloween after party (with their robes corresponding to their academic background)
I was pretty funny… When the president, chancellor, and the rest of the faculty members came on stage to take procession of the convocation… I cracked a joke saying “isn’t it ironic since today’s Nov. 2, and just a couple days after Halloween, and then you see a bunch of 40 and 50 year old walking on stage dressed as if they’re extras for a Harry Potter Movie or something…” Neways, I cracked up by entire faculty department (B.Sc.) along with the other faculty that was sitting close to ours.
Clubbing…
It’s been a LONG WHILE since I clubbed… For those who knew… I used to bounce in a lot of clubs back in my 200lbs of muscle beef days… so it was kinda weird goin clubbing for me… since I kinda lost interest in it ever since I quit bouncing…
I went with to Tonic with my ‘chick’, Elaine, Jensen & Viv …
I must admit, I missed the dance floor… music pumping in my ear drum, the bump and grind… and yes…I miss my ‘spanking booties’ the most *wink*
It was going pretty well, until Elaine caught too much 2nd hand weed…
So we had to call off the night a little early… but it was all good… We had fun…
I ended up crashing at Viv’s place… me and 2 girls… hmmmm….
Viv ended up talking in her dreams... I thought that was pretty funny…
Sunday
Slept and slept…
Went to the Science Center with Elaine’s Cousin and his gf…
I was some special exhibition on Candy…
I was alright… the iMAX movie was amazing though… just wished I could have seen Star Wars on it instead... but it was still good
At night, Elaine had to sweat it out on her assignment… still not finished… aiya…

First slow fall... beautiful and sweet...
I seriously never thought I would be in Toronto seeing the first snowfall ever again...
God has his plans and I think I'll be here in Toronto for a longer than I expected...
I'm postponing my trip to Vancouver, China and HK till March...
Originally I was suppose to leave with my parents...
I was suppose to take up a post in China and HK...
but I don't feel comfortable leaving my portfolio hanging...
Submission deadline is somewhere in Feb...
so I've decided to stay and work on my portfolio further...
I also will have a new project with Martin Yan to keep me busy...
I might also take a road trip to NY or Detroit to take a look at a design school...
just an excuse to do a driving trip with Elaine though *hee hee*
so I'm goingto home alone for a month or more...
