Valentine’s Day…

Woke up early to pick my the flowers I ordered yesterday…
Sounds easy huh?...
Well… not if the guy who supposedly delivered the flowers to the shop had an accident.
They had supposedly made my order of flower yesterday..

But because of some mix-up.. they forgot to make it……
I was like.. crap…
I need it to surprise Elaine at around 1:30pm… what to do…
Loblaws.!?!? Hmmm.. so I drove to Loblaws at Bayview Village to see…
MY GOSH!!! The crap that grows at my backyard looks better than those ‘almost dead’ looking things…
Forget it.. so I drove back to the original store I ordered from…
They told me the flower are coming in at 3pm…
I didn’t want to wait cause I wanted to surprise her at work…
So I ask her where is the truck..
They said it had to be tolled… it’s on the 404 near Leslie..
I was like... What so close!?!?
So I told the lady I was going to pick up a box and bring it back because I need it ASAP…
She’s like.. okie…
So I revved my car all the way to the 404... took a box of roses.. and rushed back…
The lady did my bouquet and so… I was able surprised Elaine at her office…
What a circus I had to go though…

Flower $70
Chocolate $40
Driving to her work place 30 min.
>surprising her at work infront of her co-workers… PRICELESS…

Happy valentine…

2002 Candian Autoshow Design Forum
I was quite surprised by the turnout of the Design Forum at the Media Press Conference for the 2002 Canadian autoshow..
Really intriguing things were discussed by the speakers…
For those who are in the automotive designing industry, it was amazing…
For someone like me getting into the industrial design industry.. I was just as great…

Of all the panelist, these 4 speakers I thought stood out from the rest most definitely…\

Here’s a little background about them…

Doug Halbert
(Executive Designer, Auto Design, Honda R&D Americas, Inc.). A graduate of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Ca, Halbert has spent 23 years at Honda in Torrance, California working on a variety of show cars and numerous design projects with the Art Center College of Design and the College for Creative Studies. Mr. Halbert is responsible for the American Research & Development for Acura and Honda products lines.

Peter Horbury
(Executive Director of Design, Premier Automotive Group (PAG). Mr. Horbury is currently responsible for developing synergies among the four European brands - Land Rover, Aston Martin, Jaguar and Volvo. Previously, Mr. Horbury was Vice President, Chief Designer for Volvo Car Corporation. Mr. Horbury enhanced Volvo's reputation by proactively directing the Studios in Sweden, the Netherlands, and California. He was responsible for all design aspects of Volvo Cars.

Tom Matano
(Director, Industrial Design Department, Academy of Art College, San Francisco, and former Vice President of Design, Mazda Motor Corporation). Mr. Matano worked on the Mazda RX-8 concept and production vehicles on display at the show this year.

Alfonso E. Albaisa
(Associate Director of Design - Nissan Design America). Mr. Albaisa's current responsibilities include exploratory design activities encompassing new product development and show cars. Mr. Albaisa is the Product Chief Designer for the Quest program which includes all aspects of design development. He was also responsible for the early development of the 350 Z as Interior Chief Designer. Mr. Albaisa has played a significant role in the development of NDA's new Farmington Hills Studio. 2003 Design Forum Photos

They all commented distinctively on the design processes in which each company goes about in making a car… different philosophy, different methodology, and how they went about to execute it…
I also got to have a chance to talk to them one on one..and share my thought with them
It was definitely a great design forum…

So I'll be sitting there and going through all the press release by each car company...
Exciting!.. yes
It's on both Wednesday and Thursday...
The only bad thing is... I have to wake up very early..
So that kinda sucks...

Press Previews includes
The World/North American Premieres
Canadian Premiers...
Some of te new cars include the 2004 Acura TSX,
Audi S4, 2004 BMW 3 series Coupé/Cabriolet
and concept cars such as the Toyota FXS...

Be sure to tune in for pictures...
I'm planning on doing bring by digital camera..
and bring my 128M and 64M memory chip..
which means
LOTS of pictures.. = )

Another note...
It's my birthday...Woo Hoo!
25th year of my existence on this planet...
Feb 10/1978 was the day I was born...
In Hong Kong...
Now that I'm quarter of a century old...
I feel a bit old...but then again... not really...
looking at my dad, it doesn't seem 'age' effect our family line...

Long time no blog…

..Finished having a meeting today with a new client…
Not new.. we had working relations in the past..
but just been too busy to take on any new projects…
So recently, we were able to sign on a new client...
The company is API…
Audio Product International
Here is a web article on the company

Details on the projects are confidential and therefore not permitted to be discussed on my site.
But obviously.. it's speakers related.

Topics that were reflected on today's meeting centered alot on China
and since most production of anykind in the world are all done in China.
Companies even such as this takes most of it's bulk operations to China..
So I may have to take some time off to China to observe all the operations that goes on in China…
Shanghai, Guangdong, Guangzhou, Yangon and many cities in China are really opening doors to foreign entrepreneurial and business ventures…

Now, there may be some of you that may think of China as inferior than what we have in America..
On the contrary… China has changed unimaginably...

Here are a few example pictures of Shanghai...
China has been one of the world's focal point as the next economical gold mine..

photos from Shanghai Photos

For many of you who are Canadian born / Canadian raised Chinese…
It’s impeccable that you should take up Mandarin…
why?....
Mandarin can open up to many doors for you career in the next 5 years…
I’ve been in great contacts of many top end companies that are opening up their operations in China..
So if you’re culturally and verbally fluent in Chinese… especially Mandarin...
then you would be looking at a great prosperous and adventurous future...
Written skillz is not that important as verbal..
If you can speak you can be a great asset to companies…

so don’t take Japanese ‘cause you think it’s cool, or listen to Japanese music just cause it’s a fad..
Japanese is alright, but if you're thinking about the future... bettwe rethink those courses if you took Japanese...
Neways, that’s my junk 2 cents of the day..
