School Courses Registration
Been busy with school registration/administration crap...
Been running around getting my medical clearance to TOEFL exemption slips...
I've finally gotten my courses in...
And so as it looks fo rthis semester, I'll be starting some nifty courses..
I gotten into a 'what-should-be' wicked design rendering course in the Pratt Manhattan campus...
The class is on Tuesday night...
and the rest of my courses are a 3D Theory course,
Pro-E and Alias Courses (computer software 3D drafting & rendering courses)
Design Research Method, Material Processing, and couple more typical intro Industrial Design/Tech courses...

What is beautiful about my schedule is that I have packed all my classes into 2 FULL day and one night class..
So I can still get to work 3 days a week in SOHO still.. sweet..

Neways... what to do about my long weekend..
hmmm...

New York Blackout

Let me say this first...
Being here in New York had taught me alot..
both professionally and personally...
and so in the working world, the saying goes..
"If you can survive in New York, you can survive anywhere..."

Lets just say yesterday with the power blackout...
It was the worst thing I experienced..
There were a SEA of people...
some mad, frustrated, angry, confused... so much emotion..
I was actually very calm in observing the situation..
I even help an major intersection to control traffic flow...
But I dunno how the blackout situation was in Toronto,
but in New York
EVERYTHING was out.. except water which only delayed for a bit..
but everything from phone line, cell phone, any electrical product was not functionable...
It was a rare sight to see stars in the sky, given that New York is a city that never sleeps...

Without electricity was like being send back to the stone age...
It was kinda crazy late at night, cause there were screams and chaos all around..
There were people also playing the bongo drums really loud..
and there were fires and stuff..
so add them all together was kinda like a 'hellish' sight...
There were muggers and stuff happening...
But I lived through it... thank God..

But I bet my time in New York will teach me alot more...

NEW PROJECT... NICE PERK...

There a new big project for the M&M packaging...
M&M is a candy division of MasterFood Inc.
What better perk than get to try out ALL the Candy samples from the entire candy division..
From every single sample from M&M, Star Burst, Skittles, and so much more..
It's practically a candy store in my work space...

On the other side of things, This project is big but it's a rush..
So I'll have to work around the clock to get this done...
Been learing alot more on massive consumer branding..
It's teaching me alot on product communication psychology and
other aspect of marketing..

AFTER A WEEK IN NY...

Well a week had gone by,
and I must say, I've experienced and learned alot in one week...
I've experienced some of the worst Subway lock-outs in New York subway transit,
and the finest Manhattan and SOHO scenes...
I've gotten the bitter and sweet of living in main stream Manhattan life...

One thing for sure it's that I got to appreciate the
good and bad, and comparison
to the places I've stayed in...
Cali is by far different in lifestyle than NY.
hence the difference between east and west coast...
I tend to like the 'lifestyle' of California,
but the vibrant feel of Ny is totally in it's own league...
that why New York is know for it's city that never sleep...
Everything happanes in New York,
the Question is.. 'are you up for it'...
If you want it bad enough, the opportunity of it being yours is pretty good.to accomplish here in New York... My goals and objectives... What and where are my lines to be drawn... The things you see on movies and 'Sex int he city' are quite true and visible here... It's no joke...

One has to really be grounded to live in New York...
Cause it can suck you up in a time, and make you lose yourself....

FIRST DAY OF WORK IN SOHO NEW YORK

8:30am wake up... pretty much the earliest I had to for work...
but 30mins to get ready
9:00am Take teh subway from Queens all the way to SOHO Manhattan

Subway rides are another whoe story to tell..
It's really soething else....
Appreciates what Toronto Subway has to offer.. trust me...

10am get to work in a office in the middle of SOHO... a amazing office...

Since I had a well rounded background experience..
I started work pretty immediately.... doing some hard core stuff...

Although the problm starts with my new computer..
not MY own PC..
but the relatively new G4 I was given for my desk...
Good thing for me, the apple store was nearby..
but still, I had to lug the entire unit ALL the way in the middle of SOHO..
I got some looks, but whatever...

Once the apple OS was reinstalled and everything.. it ran smoothly..
so I lugged the damn thing back to the office, and started working and stuff...
6pm rolls along and it was home time...
WOO HOO!!!
My first day of work in NEW YORK!!

settling in...
I'm settled into my new apartment...
It's a 3 floor complex... I'm situated on the 2nd with 2 other house mate...
The place is pretty ok... as far as NY goes...
lots of shopping malls and couple chinese stores near by..
so food wise, I'm pretty settled...
it's the commuting that I'm worried about...
we'll see in a couple of days..
so not I settled in to my room.. all my computer gears are hooked up and stuff..
I just need to go out and get a router and hook up my internet to my room...
